"The Antique Automobile Club of Latvia held the first themed car event of the 2020 season on June 12 in Riga — the Youngtimer & Freshtimer Swedish night.
This gathering was originally scheduled for April but was postponed to a later date due to Covid-19 restrictions. It was probably due to these circumstances that a new record was set for the number of participants in the Āgenskalna market events — 60 cars and one motorcycle, the full capacity of the parking lot that the event takes place in.
Amongst the attendees were not only the popular SAAB 900, Volvo 700 and 900 series, but also the Volvo Amazon, Volvo P1800, SAAB Sonnet II and III — models that are much rarer in Latvia. We were visited by three beautiful Volvos from neighbouring Estonia — 740, 780 and 940.
As usual in themed events, the latest models of Swedish brands could be seen amongst the participants — Volvo V90 XC, S60, XC40, and the final SAAB models — 9-4X and 9-5. The only motorcycle was a brand new Husqvarna Svartpilen 401.
With the help of our supporters, we awarded 3 favourites, chosen by the attendees of the event. They were Volvo 740, SAAB Sonett III and Volvo P1800.
The event was organised in cooperation with Āgenskalna market, SAAB Club of Latvia, Volvo Club of Latvia and car magazine Klassiker."
